Description
The beginning of Alor Star City. Alor Star was explored by the late Sultan Muhammad Jiwa Zainal Adlin Muadzam Shah, the 19th Sultan of Kedah (1710-1778) on Saturday 31 December 1735 equivalent to 15 syaaban, 1148 hijrah. His Majesty officially left the Bukit Pinang City Palace to reside at the Kota Star palace, taking in conjunction with the existence of an alor (tributary) that flows in this area and also a large Setar tree growing on the edge of the alor, hence the name Alor Star as the State administrative center. Kedah the 8th. There is a gate with two steel monuments in the shape of a Keris and a religious motto which are the Instruments of greatness of the Kingdom of Kedah.

Kota Kinabalu in Sabah has always been on my list of places to travel to. So, when the opportunity to visit the city during a work trip came along, I was more than happy to volunteer.

Mural art trail crosses city

IPOH: PERAK has unveiled the “Ipoh Mural Art” trail map which showcases the artworks in seven locations in the city here. This two hour-long trail will cover places from Jalan Tun Sambanthan to Jalan Bandar Timah-Jalan Panglima-Jalan Bijeh Timah-Jalan Market and Jalan Sultan Iskandar, before ending at Jalan Masjid. Most of the mural arts are drawn by local artists Eric Lai, Bryan Tan, Chris Chow and Mohd Najib Zainudin. Even the famed Ernest Zacharevic from Lithuania had contributed his efforts in creating a mural piece for Ipoh.
